ABOUT THIS SERIES - ELDORADO

Fernanda Rocha's series Eldorado embodies the idea of a place that subsists only in the memory, where layers of remembrance are stored. In this mental space there is no permanence as what is now known is no longer as it was once seen. The mind retains the picture of a memory with portions blocked out due to unconscious passive forgetting. In this process, the image once captured is transformed into something new. Yet, each of these images develop a life of their own and become fragments of stories that exist only in the imagination.

We only print on archival papers and surfaces, including silver halide photographic papers, museum-quality heavyweight rag papers, metal, acrylic, and wood.

PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS

Fuji Deep Matte Velvet is a luxurious, velvety smooth, acid-free, archival silver halide photographic paper with a non-reflective surface that creates gorgeous, detailed fine art images with rich, vivid colors that feel both muted and saturated at the same time.

RAG PRINTS

Moab Somerset Museum Rag is an archival 100% cotton heavyweight 300gsm acid-free paper with an ultra-smooth surface and matte finish that produces deep, rich blacks and unparalleled color.

METAL PRINTS

Our metal prints are made by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, resulting in uniquely durable prints with vibrant colors, brilliant luminescence, and exceptional detail. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily — just avoid direct sunlight.

FRAMES

Handcrafted in California, our solid wood box frames are made of natural wood with a rich finish and grain that can vary slightly from frame to frame. They are available in black, white and natural basswood.

Fernanda Rocha is a photographic artist who challenges visual perspectives and rules by using graphic elements to flatten and abstract the reality that she sees. These elements are sometimes playful and sometimes disconcerting. Most importantly, they add unexpected depth and meaning to her work.

Fernanda grew up in Brazil and has been based in the United States for the past 20 years. She has lived in London, and spent several months in India and, most recently, Portugal. Most of her professional experience involved the production of photography for magazines, books, newspapers, and advertising. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon.
